The Escambia County Supervisor of Elections Office will close today, October 9, at 3 p.m. and remain closed Wednesday, October 10. Due to preparations for the potential impact of Hurricane Michael, Escambia County announced the closure of most government offices beginning noon Tuesday, October 9 through Wednesday, October 10. The Election office was originally scheduled to be open until 7 p.m. Tuesday to accommodate the voter registration deadline for the November 6 General Election. Late last evening, the Florida Secretary of the State issued a directive to storm impacted counties allowing for the extension of the voter registration deadline until the day the office reopened to the public following the storm. Election worker classes scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, 5920 Lillian Hwy., Pensacola, will take place as planned.
